“Pathways to Social Change” is going to be the key event on social innovation in the year 2015. It is planned and designed by mutually complementary research projects on social innovation that reach out to world-wide experiences and concepts of social innovation. The conference will connect researchers with policy makers and practitioners of social innovation. Presentations of interim research results, considerations and site visits primarily focus on:

  • The state-of-the-art of conceptualizing and doing social innovation;
  • Methods and good practices to create desirable social change;
  • Resources, means and levers making social innovation processes effective; and
  • International comparison of social innovation practices, policies and research.

The conference is hosted by two projects under the EU 7th Framework Programme,Social Innovation – Driving Force of Social Change – SI-DRIVE, Transformative Social Innovation Theory – TRANSIT and NET4SOCIETY, a network of National Contact Points in Horizon 2020. They are joined by two collaborative partners: Creating Economic Space for Social Innovation – CRESSI and Boosting the Impact of Social Innovation in Europe through Economic Underpinnings – SIMPACT.

The following social innovation initiatives are cooperating partners:

  • Master of Arts in Social Innovation – The university course “Master of Arts in Social Innovation” offers a one of a kind professional master’s programme for individuals who want to develop sustainable and peer-to-peer media based social innovations in politics, economy and society.
  • Sozialmarie – the international Award for Social Innovation, established 2004 in Austria by a private foundation (Unruhe Privatstiftung).
  • Ashoka - The program is unique because it enables participants to gain the skills needed to master both entrepreneurial and intrapreneurial success and social impact at the same time. In this way we provide a training ground for future changemakers who challenge traditional assumptions of how the economy and society work.
  • Grüner Kreis – The Grüner Kreis (Green Circle) association for the rehabilitation and integration of people with substance use disorders (SUD) is the leading institution in Austria offering swift and professional help for people with dependency problems. The Grüner Kreis is catering the Conference.
